Director of Project Management

Department: Operations
Location: Milford, MA

Purpose of the Position:

The Director of Project Management is responsible for the overall project management function providing leadership, coordination, and management of the processes and functions relating to client focused projects. The position provides direction for the creation, implementation, and monitoring of cross functional teams to ensure the effective delivery of projects, meeting client expectations as well as company objectives. The position will direct strategic and tactical activities throughout the life cycle of the Company’s clients.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assign and direct Project Managers in their efforts to support client based projects ensuring that project plans, with the appropriate milestones and deliverables, are created, implemented, and monitored.
  • Ensure that efficient and effective systems and processes are in place to enable the delivery of client projects meeting the Company’s commitments and client expectations from project kick-off to delivery.
  • Work with cross functional teams and senior management to establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for the Program Management systems recommending solutions to overcome issues encountered.
  • Coordinate the activities required to support the development of Business Development proposals by working with various departments to ensure accuracy in deliverables and resource planning.
  • Ensure that the systems supporting financial revenue recognition, invoice requests, and change orders are maintained and performed in a timely, effective manner working with Finance and Business Development as well as other departments..
  • Provide guidance and training to Project Managers in standardized key tools and project management processes meeting the Company’s and client expectations.
  • Lead continuous improvements initiatives for both project management systems and cross functional projects as required.
  • Work with and lead other departments in the development and project management of activities to enable the department to improve its support to the business and in a changing environment.



Job Knowledge Required:

  • BA/BS in Science related field; in addition an MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership role with multiple direct reports in Project Management
  • Highly experienced with MS Office Suite, especially MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with MS Project Server and SharePoint a plus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to implement creative solutions to business problems
  • Prior experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry required; experience in a CMO/CDMO highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through a matrix management structure.
  • Strong influencing skills are required.
  • Strong commercial/customer interaction skills.
  • Knowledge of API development and production and/or a strong background in cGMP/contract manufacturing are preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification and familiarity with project management software (e.g., Project Insight) required; equivalent experience with proven success may be considered.
