Associate Scientist

Department: Small Scale Oligo Unit

Purpose of Position:

  • Plan and execute investigation and development projects and manufacture projects for the preparation of active pharmaceutical ingredients or OliGrow oligonucleotides.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage internal and customer funded investigation and development projects
    • Review scientific journals and patents and use that information to formulate a development plan.
    • Manufacture oligonucleotides, especially non-routine oligonucleotides, from synthesis to final lyophilzation step
    • Interoperate analytical HPLC and MS data
    • Document all work in laboratory notebook or adhere to good documentation practice
    • Work independently to solve non-routine chemical synthesis problems, especially in the area of nucleoside and nucleotide chemistry
    • Writing technical reports
    • Ability to adapt to a fluid and fast-paced work environment
    • Adhere to all company environmental, health and safety policies
  • Job Knowledge Required:

  • PhD in chemistry (Organic Chemistry or Oligonucleotide chemistry background preferred)
  • 3 or more years of direct experience in nucleoside or oligonucleotide chemistry
  • Track record of solving non-routine chemistry problems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in preparation of technical presentations, reports and publications in English language
  • Experience with other type of macromolecules is a plus
