Materials Campaign Planner

Department: Process Development

Purpose of the Position:

Reporting to the Process Development Organization, the Materials Campaign Planner supports Process Development, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain operations by performing materials planning activities. The position works with Avecia Process Development to ascertain the chemical materials requirements for a process, works with Avecia Manufacturing to determine siting of the materials preparation and the resulting materials adjustments, and produces a planning bill of materials (Planning-BOM) used for materials management and ordering activities by the Avecia Supply Chain organization. This position is also primarily responsible for generation of the master recipe document used to allocate, deliver, and reconcile materials during a manufacturing campaign.


Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the Planning-BOM template, including change control and changes implementation as the result of new process/materials introduction to the site

  • Interaction with Process Development scientists to accurately define the chemical process and with the Manufacturing coordinators to define manufacturing process materials needs

  • Generation of product-specific Planning-BOMs

  • Updating of the Planning-BOM for a product as process requirements change

  • Timely provision to Supply Chain of Planning-BOMs and any required updates

  • Timely generation of the MPF document for Milford manufacturing campaigns

  • Post-campaign updating of MPF document and Planning-BOM as needed

  • Must work well in a team environment and be a self-starter.


    Job Knowledge Required:

  • BS in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, or related discipline

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology-related field

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required.

  • Experience with ERP systems is not required but highly desirable.

  • Strong math and problem solving skills are required.
