Mass Spectroscopy Specialist

Purpose of Position:

The Mass Spectroscopy Specialist is a member of the Quality Control group and works across Avecia sites Milford and Marlborough, MA, and Cincinnati, OH -- to ensure that methods are transferred properly and align with best current practices. Initial focus will be to establish the methods within QC and then subsequently perform the technical data review when the method has been established. Once the methodology is established, the training of additional QC personnel on the analyses will be conducted. As determined by demand, the Specialist will also be utilized for general Mass Spectroscopy technical assessment, review, and troubleshooting.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Operation, maintenance, analysis and review of all data generated by the QTOF instrument which will be used primarily for sequence confirmation.

  • Interpretation of LCMS data for raw materials, in-process, development, release, and stability.

  • Interpretation of vendor generated GCMS data.

  • Assist in Mass Spectroscopy-related investigations that may arise for analytical or process related issues

  • Ensure that all QTOF analyses are performed in a technically sound, timely, and GMP manner.

Job Knowledge Required:

  • BS and / or MS in a relevant scientific discipline

  • 5-7+ years of experience in a cGMP laboratory and/or analytical laboratory environment

  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills with extensive background in instrumentation including but not limited to: QTOF, LCMS, GCMS.

  • Proficient in the usage of various software packages such as Empower, Openlab/Chemstation, Masslynx

  • Interpersonal skills to lead and train QC staff

  • Strong Data Review skills
