Program Manager,Commercial Support

Purpose of the Position:

The Program Manager, Commercial Support manages strategic and tactical activities for assigned clients through the entire product life cycle from process validation through commercialization and ongoing supply. The position is responsible for developing and executing project plans in accordance with Avecia’s procedures and client requirements by working closely with relevant departments. This position serves an inter-disciplinary role acting as a liaison between the client and internal technical and commercial teams. This position is expected to develop a strong relationship with the client to define program expectations based on contractual obligations, demand forecasts, and internal schedules.

Key Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Project planning
    • Assists Business Development with the development of validation (PPQ) proposals, commercial supply agreements, and related contracts.
    • Leads cross-functional project/program teams through the life cycle phases from kick-off through Continuous Process Verification and delivery activities.
    • Establishes, monitors, and communicates the status of related project and business plans to the client and internal teams.
  • Product scheduling and delivery
    • Manage product delivery schedules meeting approved client demand forecasts, internal resource capabilities, and Master Service, Supply, and Quality Agreements.
    • Coordinate with internal planning and support functions to integrate commercial schedule(s) into business plans and forecasts as required.
    • Coordinate with various departments to ensure the appropriate levels of raw materials and API are maintained per contractual agreements.
    • Coordinate with various departments to ensure the timely shipment of released API materials.
  • Program monitoring, control, and communication
    • Act as the liaison between client(s) and internal teams to communicate status of ongoing projects and commercial programs.
    • Establish a communication channel with the customer (status updates, teleconferences, etc.) and ensure appropriate project documentation that captures critical information is disseminated to all applicable internal and external team members.
    • Champion the Continuous Process Verification process and reporting for assigned programs.
    • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and metrics to facilitate program performance both internally and externally.
    • Ensure communication is performed in a timely and sensitive manner, especially regarding any adverse events that may occur.
  • Cost management and Continuous Improvement
    • Provide Finance with monthly revenue recognition updates and timely invoice requests according to contract milestones.
    • Drive and support CI activities using KPI’s and metrics to reduce costs and risks for assigned programs.
  • Identify and escalate to the appropriate departments any scope changes, resource and schedule conflicts, and trends or issues that may impact the program.

Job Knowledge Required:

  • BA/BS in Science
  • 5+ years of experience in Project Management, preferably including Portfolio management and/or CMO experience.
  • Prior commercial experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical or a similarly regulated industry required
  • Knowledge of API development and production and/or a strong background in cGMP/contract manufacturing are preferred.
  • Highly experienced with MS Office Suite, especially MS Project, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SharePoint a plus
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to implement creative solutions to business problems
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through a matrix management structure.
  • Strong influencing skills are required.
  • Strong commercial/customer interaction skills.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification and familiarity with project management software is highly desirable.
