Manufacturing Manager-Downstream

Department: Manufacturing


Primary Job Function:

Key resource manager responsible for the development and execution of all downstream operations including Chromatography, Ultrafiltration, Freeze-drying/Lyophilization, and Packaging across multiple production lines.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working with department heads, business planning, and project teams in developing detailed production schedules for area of responsibility to assure that customer and project expectations are met.

  • Accountable for the management and development of all downstream operations resources.

  • Accountable for assuring the manufacturing resources compliance to all safety, GMP, and business processes or procedures

  • Accountable for the operating efficiency of the department and support of continuous improvement

  • Responsible for establishing and delivering key performance objectives for the department and reporting progress on a routine basis.

  • Responsible for setting and reporting key departmental KPIs

  • Represent the manufacturing group in audits and client interactions

Job Knowledge Required:

  • Degree in a Scientific discipline with at least 10 years of GMP manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with downstream operations.
  • Previous Management experience is required
  • Certification in Process Improvement or Lean/Six Sigma is recommended
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and planning tools
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of both internal and external customers
